About OperaDelaware

Mission: OperaDelaware’s mission is to open the door to bold, vibrant and creative operatic programming that enriches the community, transforms audiences, and encourages dialogue.

--------
YOU MAKE OPERA POSSIBLE. The COVID-19 pandemic dealt a significant blow to arts organizations, including OperaDelaware. But thanks to generous support from patrons like you, we've been able to keep singing, safely bringing the beauty and restorative power of opera to our community through online and outdoor programming. However, it's still a long road back to the theater.

Great opera takes great support -- your donation supports artists, music education in our schools, outreach performances, AND our return to the stage. Gifts of any size make an impact. Plus, as a special thank-you, donors at the $250+ level will get special access to exclusive streaming performances on our website (launching March 2021) .

Help us weather this extended intermission by making a gift on March 4-5! Together, we can do more to keep opera and the arts vibrant in the First State.

OUR HISTORY:  In 1945 a group of local artisans gathered under the guidance of Chick Laird to present classic opera with the finest voices in Wilmington at affordable prices. Today, our patrons are geographically and culturally diverse, stretching across the East Coast while at the same time reaching deeply into our Wilmington roots. Honoring our founders’ original mission of “Opera for Everyone”, OD also offers accessible outreach performances for all ages and provides music education in underserved schools through our Neighborhood Choir initiative.
